  • My Story

Hello everyone, my name is James Docherty and I'm from a small town called Salisbury. When I researched charities in the UK that dealt with conservation and the protection of animals, Shark Trust caught my eye. It's important to understand that sharks, skates, rays and chimaeras, are among the world's most threatened animals. I want to raise awareness in this area and support the reduction of overfishing as it's a concept overlooked by most, as the health of our oceans relies on us making an attempt to prevent the high demand for shark products. We all like swimming in the sea when we go on holiday, but it's not often that we stop and think about the protection of what we are swimming in. Above all of this, I think it is important to support the smaller charities in the UK that are making a big difference, so I'm going to be running the marathon dressed as a shark to show people that Shark Trust can make a change as powerful as the animals they are protecting!
